2017: Wherever the Wheels Take Us (Part II: Baler)

Our next stop:
BALER
(December 9, 2017)

It was our GAD (Gender Awareness Development), and we usually hold our GAD training outside the school. For this year, the school chose Baler. I do not know why. As a matter of fact, it was an unpopular choice, plus we heard a lot of bad comments from people who did an ocular of the place.

Anyway, the original plan was I AM NOT JOINING because of health issues. To cut the story short, husband took me there so I can join  my co- teachers during the night bonding. So off we went.

It was a five- hour trip and an hour of  "seemingly"winding road. The view that I really loved the most was that of the Pantabangan Dam. It was just sad I had no picture of it, but, I tell you, this is one must- see view along the  way.

In Baler, there is not much to see. It was good I knew the right places to go to. Thanks to my fellow bloggers.

The Hanging Bridge. This attraction is five minutes away from the town. There are souvenir shops and there is this group of girls who will take pictures of you, well, for a price. One 5r will cost you P170.00!

Museo De Baler. This museum showcases pictures of Manuel L. Quezon and his wife, Aurora and the famous attractions in baler. The second floor is mostly a painting exhibit.

Diguisit Beach. This is a white sand beach famous for its rock formation. It's a little dangerous on your way there (prone to landslide), but it's really must- see place in Baler.

Ermita Hills. In case of tsunami, this where people must go.

It was said that in the 1800s, a family was seen to be traversing this path to save themselves from tsunami.

The House of Aurora Quezon offers old pictures of her and her husband and relics of the old house. For P60.00, you can already enter the Museum and the old house.

Baler Church. This was built in 1939 and folks say that it still holds its original bell and it is highly known during the Siege of  Baler (1898- 1899).

And our last stop, the 600- year old Balete Tree... (It is known as the Millennium Tree)

We were told that Baler has the best falls, like the Mother Falls. However, since it involves trekking, i really had to pass.

When you visit Baler, do not leave without its famous suman (organic brown rice) and its PAKO SALAD which I must say, is the only reason why I will be going back to Baler!

S.M.A.R.T. Beach Resort's version of Pako Salad is way much better than the others!

The owners especially Manong (Gosh, I forgot his name) are very cordial and hospitable!

Wherever the Wheels Take Us..... 2017 (Part I: Abagatanen, Agno and Oldwoods By The Sea, Bani)

This year gave me the opportunity to explore new places and return to some of our favorite destinations. Despite hectic schedule, travelling will always be our favorite way to unwind, relax and discover new places and good food.

Such an awe to visit the following tourist spots: Abagatanen in Agno, Oldwoods by the Sea Resort in Bani, Baler and the most recent, Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar in Bataan.

Abagatanen, Agno is a beach resort unknown to many. It is so virgin that only few people visit this place. The roads leading to this beach were already developed, but the resort and hotel industry is still thriving. The only decent resort that we can find is Juni's Beach Resort, and the rest are still catching up.
What I love about this beach is the absence of seaweeds, which are very common along the shores of Bolinao and Tondol Beach in Anda.

Its pristine waters are so inviting... You will definitely indulge to take a dip once you are there .

Agno is actually famous for its Umbrella Rock Formation,

however this paradise is another good reason why vacationists will choose this place to breathe fresh air. I always tell my friends: This is where the river meets the sea.

For 600 bucks, our kids had tons of fun! (P10.00 entrance, P20.00 parking fee and P500 for the cottage)

OLDWOODS BY THE SEA is a hotel/resort (with pool and restaurant) situated along the mountains of Bani in Pangasinan. It really lives up to its name: WOODS. Minutes before you reach the hotel, you will be passing along the lush woods, and might even wonder: tama ba dinadaanan ko?

Anyway, the hotel is intended for nature lovers. It resides amidst woods and overlooking another beach area, a cove actually which I forgot how it is called. But I tell you, it's another jaw dropping sight once you are up there.

View from the 13k worth of room...

Pool is really nice. It looks really clean!

What it feels like to be in the middle of the woods...

feel na feel...

This is the veranda on their most expensive room. 13k plus. Well, the price says it all! I must say, sulit considering the view and the ambiance.

There's my nephew over there, who really enjoyed the hammock.
I think they have to reconsider the pricing of their meal... It's too pricey; probably because they are too far from the town. But still, the food is too overpriced to think that there's nothing special about its taste.. (nagreklamo pa hehehe)

If you want to enjoy this place, then you better start saving. The hotel rates do not include tax so it's gonna get higher, plus the meals really cost a lot.  We only did an ocular, so I couldn't say much about it. However, based on what I saw,  the place is okey for me, with very cordial and hospitable crew.
